If you want cookie cutter feel free to move to Fairfax. They have what you are looking for. But, if you are looking for unique then have a seat. What works about this house is from room to room you will slowly go from new to old. The new tile in the kitchen works well. So do the 80 year old heart pine floors in the family and formal rooms. Heart pine wood isn’t easy to come by these days either.

Heartpine is the actual heartwood of the tree. Since pine used to be quite large when it was logged some hundred years ago, the pine trees were able to grow large enough to develop heartwood. Now that is not the case, as pine trees do not grow as big because they are harvested at an earlier age.

if you are interested in purchasing old recycled original pine, be sure what you are getting. Prices can vary widely but, nevertheless, be prepared to pay between 5.00 to 12.00 per board foot.

Basically, you can’t go buy heart pine at Lowe’s. It came from trees that were a few hundred years old. They don’t allow the trees to grow that old anymore. If you want to buy it yourself, you are getting it from someone elses house. I think we have a few hundred board feet in the house. So, a casual observer may look at the floors and think they need to be refinished. Tell them to think again and that they are walking on antique wood. Next, tell them to take their shoes off.

You wont want to leave the tub once it is full. Relax, lean back and stare out at the sky above. Feel free to have someone join you, there is plenty of room in there for you. You can even set up a little HDTV in there if you like. The cable is already run.

The cherry cabinets have darkened from all the sunlight that enters into this beautiful Kitchen. The Italian 20″ tiles give this area a very warm and appealing feel. The open floor plan allows you to dine and converse with your guests at the same time. You can easily seat 20 in this kitchen. We have an 84″ table that we often add a table to for the big meals we have year round.

Why are you moving?

It’s a valid question that is for sure. We are moving for a few reasons. One, we want to be closer to our son’s school. Two, 2 of my three daughters will be leaving for college in the next few years so the Mrs. and I feel it is time for a change. One that prepares us for the next phase of our life. Lastly, though we don’t have a house under contract yet we do have our eye on a home that finally has pushed us over the edge. We have had the house on the market before but never really found something that motivated us like the home we see out there now.

All that and the home buyer credit thing expires in April and let’s be honest it isn’t a bad deal.
